Good morning on the 11th of August, The day when Hungary paid for NATO’s war. Forgive me if this one turns out to be a furious, Hungaro-centric article but consuming the news this morning has made me incredibly angry. Let’s rewind a little, to the very beginning, to late February when the collective West lost its marbles and bet everything on this sanctions war : My tiny Hungary, home of only 10 million people grudgingly went along with the condemnations of the so-called “unprovoked invasion” – a huge mistake by the way – but we soon emerged as one of the only nations to go against sanctioning all forms of Russian energy, and remained one of two neutral European nations, because our economy depends on it. Viktor Orbán has earned all kinds of colorful villain names in Brussels for this, for being an economic realist.

And while the Swiss – who outperformed every other country on Earth when it comes to the sheer number of sanctions imposed on Russia – are facing energy shortages, and the Brits are struggling to pay bills ( priced £4,200 by January ) we trundled along merrily, with our price-capped fuel, and reliable heating. And all throughout this war or SMO – depending on your point of view – Russia has paid Transneft, the Russian company in Ukraine in charge of Russian oil transit via the Druzhba 2 – or Barátság 2, meaning friendship two pipeline built during the 1970s, engraved in Hungarian, endorsed by our long-gone Communist Youth Organization ( KISZ ) on our cover today – to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia among others. And now just a few days ago Ukraine – not Russia – decided that we should suffer.

They decided not to accept payment to Transneft from Russia, citing the latest round of EU sanctions, a bloc of countries that Ukraine is not, never has been a member of. They decided – while their economy is in freefall – to say no to an influx of cash that has been flowing throughout the hostilities. I and a few Hungarians will not forget this, even though most of my friends are in a fantasy world about the source of our woes, I am sad to say. After all, everything – this is not hyperbolic, from Elensky down to the simplest GroPo ( ground pounder ), all salaries, everything – is paid for by Uncle Sam in the Blue Eyed, Blonde Haired country. In any other world, this would be a declaration of war on our Economy.

But in the one we currently occupy, our MOL ( Magyar Olaj és Gázipari Részvénytársaság, or Hungarian Oil and Gas Public Limited Company ) simply paid the ransom. Friendship, indeed. We are in desperate need of better neighbors. What happens when they turn down our payment? We will not forget that it was not Russia that wanted us to suffer, it was Elensky’s ilk, using a 1970s soviet project as leverage and right now, I’d like to join the SMO in Ukraine myself on the side of the antif*scists. I understand the necessity here, but with the next loaf of bread, or jug of milk, I will be paying our extorters, or robbers and it makes me livid with anger.

By the way the British Press is coping with the reality that their economy is “crushed” in quite the amusing way. Colin Lodewick of Saxo Bank has penned this article on Fortune about Britain becoming a third world country, and names everything from Brexit to the Pandemia to the now evident Inflationary Crisis in search of a culprit, but refused to even mention the word “sanction” even once. This is the hardest copium I’ve seen to date, and I’ve seen quite a bit these past weeks. They are talking about “planned” January Blackouts, and that’s all you need to know about the United Kingdom.

The two Economies everybody thought of as strong and robust – Britain and Germany – are crumbling, and their own press is admitting as much, it is only the stupidest Hungarians who cannot see it. Literally every idiot I know is clinging on to the image they have been cultivated to believe all their lives about our Rich and Sophisticated Western neighbors and some days it feels like all the work I’ve done is in vain. It will be a kick in the face when they are finally forced to confront material reality. I apologize for the dour tone, it’s just one of those days, you know?

There are shenanigans afoot surrounding our airspace – with the Schengen nations busy trying to ban all Russian air-travel – via Visa machinations – while our own Hungarian “fapados” ( meaning wood-bench, or cheap ) WizzAir airline has quietly decided to resume flights from the United Arab Emirates to Russia, and every Western outlet is focused on this while India quietly ditched the US dollar in ALL Russian trade. I’m just sick of the media circus hiding huge and consequential events behind a blanket of hysteria, and instead I look towards what becomes of the Trump story of yesterday, which was no doubt conducted to stop him from running in 2022 – if the Bobblehead can hang on until then – but seems to have boosted his chances instead.

So while we all suffer – as Josip Borrell tells us : we should be willing to! – the joke known as the G7 is demanding that Russia hand over the nuclear power station in the place where the Zaporozhets car was once made. This is a stunning admission that the area is under Russian control, therefore leaving no doubt as to who attacked it. In our real world however, Scott Ritter – the US Marine and former UN weapons instructor – has penned a thunderous Op-Ed condemning Ukraine and her Western backers who should be held accountable for the “suicidal” attack on Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, worth reading in full. They actually are, as Scott says, hellbent on unleashing a modern-day nuclear holocaust on Europe. They. Don’t. Care. They – according to Elensky – believe the conflict will end when the Kievan regime takes back Crimea, where the Big Three met in Yalta. Good f*cking luck with that!

In Alex Cristoforou’s Clown-World News, Per Wästberg, co-founder of Amnesty Sweden has resigned over the Ukraine report that finally shed light on the crimes committed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Yeah he’s called Per, and I was desperately looking for a joke as Per usual but couldn’t find one.. And in desperate search for a positive conclusion I bring you the words of Global Times, as is tradition by now. The million-year-old billionaire, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended her decision to visit Taiwan on NBC’s Today Show, last night. In the interview, Pelosi vividly demonstrated to the audience how “a selfish child causes trouble, gets scared, and passes the buck to others”. Well said.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading and have a lovely Thursday morning, afternoon or evening whatever sky looks down upon you reading these lines.
