Good morning everyone, it is the day Béla Kun’s short-lived Hungarian Soviet Republic ( Tanácsköztársaság, meaning Council-Republic literally ) was overthrown in 1919, and the Romanian Royal Army paraded on the streets of Budapest. My people remained under the yoke of the local Magnates, and foreign capital for another twenty-six years – destined sadly for another World War on the side of evil – until we would finally see the dawn, and look up at the red star again. Our best human tendencies of solidarity, friendship and self-determination retreated into hibernation and the hollow lies of ultranationalism and a the pursuit of a glorious past, dressed in the flag and the cross took over, right until the very best of us – side by side with our Soviet brothers and sisters – liberated my Budapest, and sent the f*scist running West with whatever loot and plunder they could carry.
I will take a break for the day, and in the tradition of János Kádár – the People’s Republic of Hungary’s most beloved leader – look inward and reflect on my recent work and engage in self-criticism. I wish there was an english caption available, but here is my approximate translation for what he said – to applause – under sources:
“We Communists have our own confession tradition called self-criticism. Similarly to some people who call themselves Communist, like a rather bad catholic who does mischief all year round and then on Easter Sunday goes and confesses to the preacher, emerging reborn only to start it all over again on Easter Tuesday. There are none among us who we can look upon with adoration, and this is useful, because we have become humanly close, we see what the other is right about, and we see the errors as well, and I believe – to the benefit of our system – we have the courage to say it.”
I got carried away the other day. The fact to the matter is that I got far too close – on an emotional level – to this Taiwan provocation story – tracking that damn plain in real time – and I think I went into a bit of a self-induced panic, and that is a problem when my goal is to enlighten You and myself along the way.
You have my apologies, and I will try better in future to remove myself from the stories we cover and do better in sticking with the facts, not the diplomatic rhetoric. Waking up today the picture is much more clear to me : The Pelosi stunt was quite simply the old alpha dog marking his territory with a bit of old piss, meant exclusively for the cameras – obvious once you read the old hag’s words uttered a million times before, democracy, freedom, hooman rights, the works – because his might to a huge extent exists only on screen. After Sergei Lavrov achieved one televised victory after the other, with the leaders of the Arab and African world lining up to shake his hand and take photographs – despite the West’s every effort to stop it and portray Russia as “isolated” – they were rattled, and needed a televised win so they decided to provoke China, and to their populations at least they have a narrative : We landed, they did nothing. We called their bluff, and we’re still Top Dog. To them it is a – momentarily – win, so let them enjoy it.
And thank god they did nothing, at least immediately. While their diplomatic corps is very professional, I believe they too got carried away vowing all these historically worded responses in the face of what they still – rightly – call treachery, like Wang Yi yesterday : “Those who offend China will be punished”.
Luckily for us all, words are one thing, but the Chinese Communist Party is quite another, acting with constant restraint. They are cold-headed planners not Napoleonic conquerors. The blockade I wrote about is merely an exercise at this stage, intended of course as another warning : This is our battle plan, and we are confident enough to rehearse it.
It is a dress rehearsal, because while the PLA navy is mighty, their land and air defenses can sink or down anything sent anywhere near them, they are not ready for an armed conflict because of a single, huge deficit in their arsenal : Submarines. The world class fleets in the world belong to Russia and the USA today, and this means that the US can still cause massive damage to the Chinese fleet before mainland anti-submarine airborne capabilities even get there. Perhaps Kadyrov was right that when seeing this blatant provocation : it would have been wiser to just stay quiet and acknowledge US animosity without scaring the 82-year old sock-puppet with airplanes and destroyers.
Russia has been preparing for fourteen years for a confrontation and they are doing the fighting. In this historic partnership – misunderstood by so many – Russia is the senior partner when it comes to armed forces and natural resources, but China is the senior partner in economic matters and manufacturing. They complement each other perfectly. The PLA is a force to be reckoned with but despite their awesome videos, they have not been preparing for a large-scale confrontation for twenty years like Russia has, and for now they lack the battle experience.
While even Ursula von der Lügen was already pre-emptively condemning “large countries invading smaller neighbors”, they did not respond to provocation and they now have the full support of not just Russia – who I think will further integrate weapons technologies now – but most of the World. Furthermore they have come to a moment of clarity – like Putin did in 2008 – and they now see the US as overtly hostile. Their plans will now be made in full recognition of this now unequivocal reality, and this does not mean that war is not a future possibility : It distinctly is, but it will not be embarked on in a moment of haste and fervor, but – like in the case of Russia – at a time of China’s choosing.
Finally – I am not trying to make excuses but – I will say this : this work – I am lucky enough to do for you – can get as daunting as any job. This time is donated, but it does not, cannot constitute my life because I, like you, need to pay the more and more expensive bills and for that I need to do my day job which also strains the brain. I get tired. I will make more mistakes, and will be called out for it. But I think I need to step back more often, because the repetition, and the huge onslaught of notifications – which I appreciate fully – have become a choir of their own, a strain. It often takes two hours just to service them. I’m trying to keep up but the reality is that I haven’t had a chance to use messenger – including some chats with important friends – all week. I will continue to try to keep a delicate balance and hope to avoid burnout, I hope you understand.
Thank you for reading and have a lovely Thursday morning, day or evening whatever sky looks down upon you reading these lines.
